Design Psychology Lecture 01 - Introduction

Design Psychology Lecture 01 - Introduction

There's nothing I like more than being introduced to a subject than by watching a couple clips from QI starring Stephen Fry.

I found the introduction to be quite clear and concise. Helen the lecturer was very open about what was required from us as students as well as her as a lecturer. Maybe it was the setup of the lecture but I felt like it was more personal than what the previous first year lectures were like which I found to be quite nice.

Being an introduction to the course there wasn't much info on anything specific other than the course overview as well as those important rules. We were also given the first brief as well as the first reading which I have already made a start on reading a day or so ago.

It's a bit ironic that the first project is about relaxation since I'm quite nervous about it haha.

The class was split into seven groups and were given the task of recreating an emotion using an object. Please refer to the previous posts picture for what my group did.  This task was a neat introduction into how we can contrast physical emotion into objects and was very helpful.

We ended the lesson somewhat early which was nice. It gave me some time to collect my thoughts and to figure out how to write this little post. On the whole I think I'm going to like this class a helluva lot. It'll provide me a unique perspective on design that I can later apply to the core media design classes next year.

Cheers,
Allan
